Karuta Workshop

Join us at the Nikkei Craft Festival, where you'll learn the rules and play your first matches of Karuta!

In this one-hour workshop, you'll learn the basic rules of Kyogi Karuta and play your first matches on tatami mats! No experience or Japanese proficiency is required; everyone is welcome to join and play. We'll provide everything you need, including Karuta cards in several versions (standard, hiragana, and romaji), so you can enjoy the game at your own pace. Come try something new, meet fellow players, and have fun!
